Volunteer
As we strive to improve the quality of our services, we are adding a new facet to our programs. While we already have friends of Synergy who help in different areas, we are formally establishing a VOLUNTEER PROGRAM!
If you or someone you know are interested in a rewarding experience in which you can positively impact the lives of a great group of people, then please consider the following Volunteer Opportunities. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Participant Mentor– A Participant Mentor is a volunteer who provides guidance and support to residential participants. With direct supervision from the individual participant’s assigned Qualified Professional and the Volunteer Coordinator, the mentor will assist the participant in activities meant to enhance his/her quality of life such as:
- Visitation
- Reading to or with the participant
- Writing cards/letters to friends/family
- Hobbies/ entertainment
- Assist participant with the Life Review Project
- Assist participant with personal errands
- Companionship during meals
- Exercise
- Etc.
The Participant Mentor’s goals/activities will be determined based on the individual needs of the participant to which he/she is assigned.
Clerical Support- A Clerical Support Volunteer provides support to the administrative staff with direct supervision from the Executive Administrator or the Program Integrity Administrator and the Volunteer Coordinator. The Clerical Support Volunteer will perform general clerical tasks in the SIA offices including but not limited to: answering phones, filing, copying, typing, printing, collating and directing staff/ visitors to the correct department.
Maintenance/ Lawn Care– Maintenance/ Lawn Care Volunteers will provide services to assist Synergy In Action, Inc. in maintaining its physical plant with direct supervision from the Operations Manager and the Volunteer Coordinator.
Activities/ Social Events– A Volunteer assisting with activities and social events will assist Synergy In Action, Inc. staff in the planning and implementation of agency wide events and social activities with direct supervision from the administrative staff and the Volunteer Coordinator.
Public Relations– A volunteer assisting with public relations/ marketing will assist the Executive Administrator of Synergy In Action, Inc. in the planning and implementation of public relations/ marketing activities with direct supervision from the Executive Administrator and the Volunteer Coordinator.
Specialized Skills/ Talents – Volunteers possessing talents such as art, cooking, specialized crafts, dance, music, exercise/fitness, etc. could be utilized to lead a “class”, frequent gatherings/events, or develop enrichment activities. They will be supervised by the Volunteer Coordinator.
