Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Key areas of responsibility:
- Maintain a healthy and safe environment for assigned participants in the residential and community settings.
- Serves as a healthy role model.
- Provides prompting and support to the participants.
- Demonstrates problem-solving abilities and promotes social growth skills to participants.
- Assists in directing daily hygiene care.
- Facilitates the administration and use of medication.
- Reads daily logs to track progress and activities in the residential setting.
- Records accidents and incidents in a timely manner as outlined in the policies and procedures.
- Conducts and documents fire/safety drills and facility-safety checks.
- Assists in housekeeping duties, such as cleaning bathrooms, laundry, mopping, vacuuming floors, and maintaining a clean kitchen.
- Maintains certifications, such as First Aid and CPR, Safety Training, Medication Administration, CORE Competencies, NCI (NC Interventions). Synergy In Action also provides Professional Development Training i.e. Therapeutic Relationship Workshop.
